Governance
Matthew is the Group CEO of Brit and serves on the Boards of Brit Limited, Brit Syndicates Limited and Brit Insurance Services USA inc. Matthew began his career in Lloyd's in 1988. He joined Brit in 1999 to start up the International Property Division and was appointed as CEO of Brit Global Markets in May 2008 which subsequently became Brit Global Specialty in February 2012 combining our reinsurance and global markets divisions to form one Lloyd's platform. Matthew has served on the Board of the LMA since May 2011 and represents the LMG as Head of Diversity and Inclusion.
Mark joined Brit in April 2010 and led the Group’s strategic review and corporate restructuring as the Director of Strategic Planning and Business Improvement. Prior to his appointment to Chief Financial Officer he held the role of Chief Risk Officer and Director of Strategy. Mark joined Brit from McKinsey & Company where he led high-profile strategic projects for a range of large clients, predominantly in financial services. Mark is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, and originally worked as an actuarial consultant at Mercer. He holds an MA (hons) degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
Mr Barnard is the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Fairfax Insurance Group, with responsibility for insurance and reinsurance operations throughout Fairfax Financial Holdings. Previously, Mr. Barnard served for 15 years as the Chief Executive Officer of OdysseyRe and its subsidiaries. Prior to joining OdysseyRe and Fairfax Financial Holdings in 1996, Mr. Barnard was the Chief Underwriting Officer at Transatlantic Reinsurance Company. He has over 35 years of experience in the property casualty industry, primarily in the reinsurance sector. He is a graduate of Clark University, with a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations received in 1977.
Mr Ehrlich is Senior Legal Counsel at OMERS. In this role he is involved in strategic transactions, hedge fund investments, general securities law matters, credit investments and private placements. Prior to joining OMERS in 2014, Mr. Ehrlich practiced securities and corporate, commercial law with Stikeman Elliott LLP, a leading law firm based in Toronto, with offices in Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, New York, London and Australia
Mr Ehrlich was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2007 and holds a JD degree from the University of Toronto (2006), a Masters of Studies degree in modern history from the University of Oxford (2003) and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Queen’s University (2002).
