Brit renews US HPL Consortium 7882

Brit Group Holdings Limited (“Brit”) is pleased to announce the successful renewal of the Brit US Hospital Professional Liability (“HPL”) Consortium 7882 for the 2026 underwriting year.

This marks the fourth year of the consortium, which will continue to cater to US-based hospitals and health systems, providing a unique capacity offering for the healthcare market. A maximum capacity of USD 10 million will continue to be offered for individual programmes, with the ability to be deployed across multiple layers.

Given wider market challenges including financial pressures post-pandemic, and increases seen in social inflation and the associated settlement and verdict values, demand for HPL capacity has never been more acute. Brit’s consortium provides a market leading solution and focuses on the primary and lower excess layers, adding value where (re)insureds need it most.

Tom Kennedy, Class Underwriter for Healthcare Liability at Brit, said: “We are delighted with the renewal of Consortium 7882. This milestone marks the fourth year of the consortium, which is testament to the confidence our consortium partners place in the team’s expertise and underwriting discipline. The renewal of the consortium, with 100% Lloyd’s of London capacity, will ensure that clients can continue to benefit from a pre-placed, syndicated and diversified capacity offering at a time when available capacity for US hospitals is increasingly constrained.”

Jon Sullivan, Group Chief Underwriting Officer at Brit, added: “The renewal of Consortium 7882 comes at a crucial moment given the growing challenges faced by the US healthcare industry. We are proud to use our innovative capacity to manage clients’ needs seamlessly across a wide range of programmes and further build on our reputation as a leading global healthcare liability carrier.”
