find out moreWorking at Brit for the past five years, especially in the technology and data department, has been a journey marked by rapid change and innovation. Brit has fostered not only technological advancements but also a thriving culture and community through various Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) like RISE (Race, Inclusion, Solidarity, and Equality).
Being part of the mental health first aiders and RISE has been profoundly rewarding. The flexibility and support that Brit offers, such as volunteering days and mental health initiatives, contribute to a strong sense of community. These opportunities amplify voices and promote inclusivity, reflecting the firm’s commitment to diversity.
My passion for inclusion and diversity, particularly the representation of various faiths and cultures, has grown immensely. The presence of a multi-faith room at Brit and the curiosity of my colleagues about different aspects of faith have sparked meaningful conversations. These interactions are crucial in promoting understanding and combating misconceptions.
For example, my recent decision to wear a headscarf led to numerous questions from colleagues about my faith and practices, providing an opportunity to educate and share my cultural identity. This experience has underscored the importance of representing faith in the workplace and fostering an environment where everyone feels included and respected.
The RISE ERG has played a significant role in this journey. It provides a platform to address and dismantle preconceived notions about race and faith, promoting a culture of openness and acceptance. The privilege of being part of multiple communities at Brit has enriched my professional and personal life, reinforcing the value of inclusivity in the workplace.
