Brit Insurance has identified that their goal in HTML design for the dotcom site is to meet AA standards for W3C compliance, where:

Conformance Level A : all Priority 1 and 2 checkpoints are satisfied
Conformance Level Double-A : all Priority 1 and 2 checkpoints are satisfied
Conformance Level Triple-A : all Priority 1, 2, and 3 checkpoints are satisfied

Brit Insurance also indicated that new dotcom site requires meeting other compliances, including:

Plain English standards (Financial Services)
Privacy Acts (UK/US) including transaction protection – any form of uploaded information is now described as a transaction in confidence
