Overview
Brit Re is our A-rated reinsurer, domiciled in Bermuda.
Brit Re provides reinsurance solutions to both the Brit Group and third-parties, underwriting a diversified portfolio of property, casualty and specialty business.
The Company was incorporated in 2007 and holds a Class 3B licence issued by the Bermuda Monetary Authority to underwrite reinsurance business and holds a Financial Strength Rating and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating both of “A” (Excellent) from AM Best. The ratings reflect Brit Re’s balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong. Read more here.
BGS Bermuda and Brit Re work closely together as we continue to build our Bermuda-based reinsurance platform.
We have built out the capabilities of Brit’s Bermuda operation significantly over the last few years with our growing treaty presence, the redomiciliation of Brit Re and the launch of our ILS platform, Sussex Capital. We are pleased with A.M. Best’s rating which reflects the capital strength of Brit Re and which will allow us to access additional reinsurance business, complementing our existing operation
