Professional Indemnity, UK

Accountants Professional Indemnity

Overview
We’ve been a leading insurer of UK accountants for ten years and bring a real understanding of the issues affecting the profession to our underwriting approach.

Professional Indemnity insurance is compulsory for all members of the ICAEW who have a practising certificate and are engaged in public practice. Our policy wording is compliant with the Institute’s requirements and we are a ‘Participating Insurer’ on the ICAEW’s approved scheme.

We insure a diverse range of UK accountants but our focus is on ‘high street’ firms and insolvency practitioners. We can also consider boutique and larger firms engaging in moderate amounts of higher risk activities such as tax minimisation schemes, public company audit, M&A work and investment advice.

We write both primary and excess layers and can co-insure on larger placements. Our maximum line size is £10m.

Benefits

Our ICAEW-compliant wording provides enhanced cover including:
- Full civil liability cover
- Any one claim or aggregate limit of indemnity available
- Defence costs in addition
- Cover for Ombudsman awards up to the limit of indemnity
- Cover for loss of documents
- Compensation for court attendance
- Capped excess available for ICAEW-regulated firms
- Full retroactive cover available

Cover
Cover is provided on a ‘claims made’ basis, meaning the policy is triggered when a claim arising from the firm’s professional business is made against the insured and notified to insurers during the policy period. We investigate the allegations, appoint solicitors if appropriate and provide an expert defence, having regard to the commercial sensitivities of any client relationships.
