Brit Insurance Holdings PLC (“Brit Insurance” or “the Group”), the UK-domiciled international generalinsurer and reinsurer, is pleased to announce the expansion of its suite of Directors’ and Officers’ (D&O) products with the launch of a new Charity Protection Indemnity Policy.

The policy provides a mix of entity, legal expenses and individual covers, and has no Employment Practice Liability or Professional Indemnity exclusions. The cover is flexible and can be provided on a simplified D&O basis if required.

The launch of this new policy coincides with the approval of the new Charities Act, which received Royal Assent earlier this month. The Act makes it easier for charities to obtain trustee indemnity insurance by allowing trustees to purchase indemnity insurance without initially having to gain permission from the Charity Commission; providing there is no provision in the charity’s governing document that specifically prohibits this.

Craig Watson, D&O Underwriter at Brit Insurance, commented:

“This is an important addition to our UK Professional Risks product suite. This new policy complements our existing D&O offering and demonstrates our commitment to meeting clients’ needs in an ever-evolving legal environment.”
