Brit Insurance announces exclusive contract with Telesat Canada

Brit Insurance Holdings PLC (“Brit Insurance” or “the Group”), is pleased to announce the renewal of its exclusive contract with Telesat Canada (“Telesat”) to supply the Group with technical advice and support for its space underwriting activities.

Matthew Wilson, Underwriting Director of Brit Insurance’s Space Division, commented:

“Our unique agreement with Telesat has been instrumental in achieving our respected global lead position in this highly specialised class of business and gives us an exceptional technical and analytical resource. This new three year agreement follows 12 years of successful collaboration between our two companies and we are delighted to announce the continuation of the relationship.”

Brit Insurance has also strengthened its space underwriting team with the promotion of Chris Gibbs, previously Space Underwriter, to Class Underwriter and the appointment of an additional underwriter, Gary Brice. Chris has 22 years’ insurance market experience and has been an underwriter for seven years. Gary will join Brit Insurance in early 2007 as Space Underwriter from Aon where he was Director, Aon Space, London. He has 20 years’ experience in this field and will add depth to our existing experienced team.
