Brit Insurance wins Insurance Day's 'Charitable Initiative of the Year' and 'Technological Initiative of the Year' awards, December 2005.
Upon receiving the Charitable Initiative award Carne Curgenven, Corporate Development Director for Brit Insurance commented:
'The Tsunami on boxing day 2004 was a frightening reality for all of us. As we witnessed the destruction and loss of life, we knew we had to do something to help. Although our initiative was created from an event that took so many lives and brought so much suffering, we found a cause that united us in something greater than commerce and industry. We are thrilled to receive this award as it will stand as a constant reminder of something we did that we all felt good about and from which much good came in a time when so many were suffering.'
The Technological Initiative of the Year award was received by Nigel Currah, Brit's Underwriter for Cargo risks.
'We are naturally delighted that the judges recognised our Brit Real-time Interactive Trucking (BRIT) System as award winning technology. While we have always sought to provide a good service to our customers, we recognised that developments in technology had raised the bar, providing the opportunity to take our service to the next level. Saving time and money, our BRIT System is a significant step forward in dealing with known obstacles that complicate trading across multiple time zones through multiple intermediary channels. The solution is a real and immediate benefit to our trading partners and customers, as well as ourselves.'
