Brit appoints Nicholas Davies as War & Terrorism Class Underwriter

Brit Insurance Holdings PLC ("Brit"), the UK general insurer, has appointed Nicholas Davies, as class underwriter for its new consolidated War and Terrorism account.

His responsibilities will encompass Aviation Hull War, Aviation War Liability, Marine Hull War (including war P&I), War on Land as well as stand alone Terrorism risk. Nicholas will write the account on behalf of Syndicate 2987 from the Property box (42), on the ground floor of Lloyd's and is expected to write £22 million of premium income in 2004.

Prior to joining Brit, Nicholas spent 18 months as a member of the US Property underwriting team at Ace Global Markets before which he had entered the market as a broker with Bain Hogg International.

Dane Douetil, CEO of Brit Underwriting said: "Since joining Brit's US and International Property Division in 1999, Nicholas has helped the group to develop its presence in the US and International property arena, and more recently in the terrorism market. I am sure his contribution will be even greater in his new role."
