Job Title:
Catastrophe Risk Technician

Purpose of the Job

To support the Catastrophe Risk Analysts with the processing and formatting of data for the underwriting teams.

Principal Accountabilities

• To acquire the requisite data for use in catastrophe modelling of property risks. 
• To cleanse and prepare this data prior to statistical analysis. 
• To be responsible for the formatting of this data to ensure its accurate presentation.
• To reconcile the data ensuring accuracy levels are maintained.
• To use specialist software to analyse these risks, principally RMS software.
• To support the Cat Risk Analysts in the preparation of their results for the underwriting teams.
• To work with the Actuaries and underwriters to assist with Pricing and understanding modelling results.
• To liaise daily with the wider Catastrophe and Actuarial teams and establish effective working relationships.
• To support the Cat Risk Analysts with ad hoc project work they are conducting as and when necessary.

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Evidence of a strong academic record
• Willingness to undertake personal and professional continued development
• A basic knowledge of insurance industry, preferably within the London Market
• Experience of an office environment
• Strong numerical and literacy skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Maths and English GCSE Grade A
• Effective prioritisation and organisational skills
• A positive and flexible approach to work and colleagues
• Experience of using MS Excel to an intermediate level
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to others
