Purpose of the Job:
To assist with the preparation and test execution of all areas of testing including both System Testing and Business Acceptance Testing on both new and existing company systems to ensure accurate management information and efficiency of service to internal customers.
Principal Accountabilities:
• To review the design specifications and requirements documents for suitability for writing test plans and scripts.
• Design the test plans and test scripts using agreed methods and standards.
• To identify, diagnose and report issues and defects found throughout the testing lifecycle to both the test manager and project manager.
• Report both test preparation and test execution progress to the test manager in both a structured and on an ad-hoc basis.
• Liaise with project managers, business analysts, developers and end users to generate full understanding of requirement and test accordingly.
• Identify areas of improvements in the test process and work with the test manager to realise these improvements.
• To resolve queries and concerns through use of knowledge and technical expertise.
• To document and update team spreadsheets with accurate, up to date information.
• To undertake any ad-hoc or project work as required.
• Perform requirement Documents and Design Specification Reviews.
• Generate test plans based on high level business cases and/or project mandates.
• Test Scripting and Test Execution based on both Design Specifications and Requirements Documents.
• To analyse peer reviews of test documents.
• Report on issues and defects found throughout the test process.
Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• ISEB Foundation Certification in Software Testing.
• Knowledge of test process improvement techniques.
• Knowledge of both System Test and Business Acceptance Testing techniques.
• General Insurance and/or London Markets experience.
• Full knowledge of the software development cycle.
• Solid experience in testing and system testing.
• Experience of User Acceptance Testing.
• Experience working with third party vendors.
• Experience of liaising with end users to understand requirements.
• Experience of SQL 2005 and/or Oracle.
• Manual test preparation techniques.
• Running queries on either SQL 2005 or Oracle D/B’s.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Advanced IT and relevant systems skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
